Jeans to shorts...

I won't exactly call this a Fail, but I'll say it was a good attempt. I'm going to have to re work them just a bit, though.

Zoe is pretty skinny, so she is starting to have some jeans that are just too short, but still fit her in the waist. I didn't want to get rid of them, so being inspired by Wardrobe Refashion and THIS tutorial over at Make it and Love it, I decided to try to refashion the jeans into little shorts or capris. Doesn't sound too complicated, right?

Well, it's not complicated, but I'm still a beginner, and I don't have the right kind of thread and blah blah blah. Despite her enthusiasm in these photos, Zoe's not thrilled that I cut her jeans, lol. I need to rework the hems with thicker thread, preferably in a contrasting color so it stands out. I'm happy she has another pair of shorts, but they seem a little blah to me. I'm considering cutting them shorter, and maybe sewing lace or ribbon onto the hems? Hmmm.

I also have a pair of jeans that I want to convert to shorts for Maya, too. I'll definitely do an update post when it's finished.

And an FYI: something to look forward to: I finally have time to do a tutorial for the butterfly hair clips, so I plan to get that up tomorrow!

Oh, I think they're cute! A ruffle at the bottom would be cute too, though.

BTW, ties are pretty expensive at the thrift stores around here (even if they aren't silk) but I was sorting through some stuff left by Angie and Kenny & found 2 or 3 silk ones...I can't wait to try it out on the eggs! I'm also going to try using flowers & other natural dyes. I've vowed to not buy the kits that they sell.... wish me luck. But if you want me to pick some up and send them to you, it'll be too late for this year, but you'd have them ready for next year. let me know.
